Both male and female Io moths (pronounced eye-oh) have gorgeous blue/black/brownish eye shaped spots on the hindwings, but only males are yellow. The females tend to be bigger and browner…but all of their offspring are dangerous stinging caterpillars, found in almost every state of the U.S.
